Still want comment on the 4.0l V6

The 4.0 is a fine engine, the two that I've owned, '94 and '00, have been very reliable, but their performance is depressing.
I'd much rather have a Chevy 4.3. I had an old '94 Blazer 4.3, and a '99 S10, they are just as reliable, but will easily dust the 4.0s in performance. Finest V6s in my driving experience

I've got a 4.sl0w in my Exploder.....good engine but it's got 140k on it right now but has always been slow and weak from the begining but hasn't given me to many problems, I've got a freind with over 300k on his '93 Ranger with the stock motor and no major problems and it still is pretty peppy.

I think that the 4.0 SOHC engine has good power and the 5 speed auto tranny that they have it mated to make a great match. The SOHC is a much better engine for power than the older OHV engines.
But, I do not like the SOHC for a very different reason. I only got 45,000 miles out of mine. I lost oil pressure because the oil pump drive gear slipped on its shaft. This was in a 2001 Explorer Sport, and Ford told me TS. I have since gotten rid of that vehicle, but was dumb enough to buy another Ford.
