Will A 2002 Overhead Digital Console Work In My 99 F-150??????????
HI!... I know this is in the wrong section but I figured it would be seen more here. I need this answered quickly or I will lose the deal....... I can get a deal on a complete headliner, dome light, sun visers, overhead console with temp reading and the temp probe from a smashed 2002 F-150. Can this be installed on my 99 F-150? Does the temp console just need power or does it run off the PCM? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Should just need power.
I have an overhead console from an Explorer in my 1997 F-150. Because Ford uses the same color coded wire for specific sources, this should tell you how to hook everything up.

HI!... *UPDATE*
Well I picked up my headliner and overhead console a few days ago. I did the install yesterday. 1st off you'll have to do a lot of modifications to get a "2002" head liner to fit in a "99" truck. FORD changed a few things. To get it to fit I had to drill new holes for the sun viser support hooks. 2ND I had to drill new holes for the sunviser mounting brackets. See the "99" has the viser mounting brackets mounting with the screws facing left to right where the "2002" has them mounting 180 degree's in the opposite direction. Coat hooks and dome light are the same and bolt back into factory holes. The black plastic frame for the overhead console needs the two large black "PRONGS" to be trimmed down flat so they don't hit the trucks roof structure by the front window. No hole provided for these on the "99". Also the foam and pastic supports in both front corners of the headliner itself need to be removed and trimmed down to fit. The only real problem so far that I have had is that the rear interior panels that are above the speakers do not fit the headliner too good at the top. They leave a gap (hole). I'll just go back to the junk yard and get the ones out of the truck I got everything out of. No problem. Besides that it looks totally factory and you would never know that my "99" never came with it.
Now for the wiring. I havn't got it hooked up and running yet but with JMC's help, it should be by the end of today. There are 6 wires coming from the overhead display.
1- ground
2- to temp sensor
3- back from temp sensor
4- to GEM MODULE
5- to main head light switch
6- to fuse box (# 23 fuse connection)
I'll let you guys know how it turns out by the end of today.

HI!... Well it's all in, hooked up and working GREAT!!!!! Lot's of thanks to JMC for helping me with the wiring. Not my strong suit. He supplied documentation from his F-150 manual on CD. Everything worked out good and I'm happy. I just got to get "02" rear plastic corner panels to cover the gap left over from me "99" panels. If anyone here decides to do this, try to get a "2000" donor truck for the headliner, sun visers, and overhead console. It will fit with less modifications. For anyone interested here is the wiring broken down. The overhead console has one wire harness running to it. It has 6 wires coming from it. Here are the colours and where they need to be hooked up to in order for the LCD display to work.

- LB/RD TRACER = Tap into LB/RD TRACER behind MAIN HEADLIGHT SWITCH. (dimmer switch)

HI!... MF15O : Yes I have a TRANSGO shift kit. It's set on it's highest setting plus I have a custom burned SUPERCHIP (via MIKE T) that also has the shift firmness program cranked WAY up. Remember though that I have a custom built RACE DUTY 4R70-W tranny with a 2400 stall converter. A shift kit will void your warrenty here CANADA, but I'm not sure about the U.S. You guys have that magnason-moss act to protect you guys.
