The claims are around 15 HP at the rear wheels. I must have gotten that because when the motor is cold I can chirp them off idle by nailing the gas. 33's BFG MTs with 3.55 gears. I could not before the install.

I have the kit supplied by Mike Troyer's Performance Products Inc. I don't measurethe MPG on my truck. Look at my sig, it isn't worth it.

Cool

HI!... MIKE TROYER at PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS 1 (540) 862-9515. His kit is basically what you see in my pics in my other post, but he uses different fan controllers.

Question

To all who have the Flex-a-lite installed and tow

I would like to hear from any and all who have installed teh flex-a-lite fan kit on ther truck with the 5.4 w/A/C and who tow a boat or trailer. How does the fan work does it keep the temp normal and has anyone had any problems with there trucks getting hot with this setup? Also I went to Flex-a Lite's website and downloaded the install directions and they seem a bit confusing now it may be becuase i don't have the fan here to visually see all the parts but how hard is it really to install I am mainly concened with the wiring aspoect of it.

Thanks,
Richard D.

Cool

Richard D -

Read here first: Original Flex-A-Lite Fan Install Write Up

The fans (there are 2 of them) will definitely cool your truck, no matter what the circumstances. They move way more air than the stock fan.

As far as the wiring, it is all pretty straight-forward, right up 'till you get to the AC compressor connection.

Read the thread, there is a wealth of info regarding the whole install (because there were a couple of installs going on simultaneously in the thread).

Get the fans - you'll be glad you did.

Besides, if you get stuck, POST !!!

Good luck !!!

B-Man

That is a good thread I did a search yesterdy and foud it and have saved it into my favorite for referance next week or so when i get the fans. I do have a question though,I see that some have said something about putting a manual switch in for turning the fans off while on the freeway as they are not needed to cool, but this has confused me a bit because if you are on the freeway and the air flow is suffecient to cool the truck would not the fans shut off on there own if you have the tmp set for the fans to kick on at 190 and the cooling system does not get that high while on the freeway why would you need a switch to turn the fans off. Also where do you get this lighted swicth if it is needed to do this task? So you think this fan setup will be ok to handle towing a boat in 100 + dgree weather during the summer months?

Thanks,
Richard D.

My FAL fans run on the freeway if I have the A/C on. I dont have a problem with that. Man, my AC runs cold now! heh.

I just got back from a road trip to CA and the only time my fans ran (w/o AC on) was when I would stop at a rest stop they would come on for like 30 seconds when I stopped.

Right now with temps only in the 80's here the only time my fans run are when I'm sitting in traffic or a drive thru. My fans usually are not running especially when I'm moving.

Thanks,
Richard D.

I went with the FAL factory setting. I got an idiot gauge in my 98 and when it hits about 1/3 it comes on. I may try and tweak FAL ECM some as summer approaches.

I've heard 192* is best.
