blown Plugs
Why has there been no TSB posted for this blown plug problem? I know there has been enough evidence offered to warrant one. Ford is definitely aware but NHTSA might have a say.

Hey there Texford, how is everything going with you?
I may be mistaken, but I believe the TSB for the plug issue states that the dealer should replace the head for this problem. They don't recommend the helicoil fix due to the lack of material to work with around plugs.
If it is under warranty and she pops, they will fix it at no charge. If it is out of warranty...get out your check book.

By the way...there is really not a big "ISSUE" with blown plugs. It is rare but due to the nature of the web forum, one may think it is wide spread, it ain't.
Also, most blown plugs(not all), are in modded engines. Relax, your plugs ain't going nowhere.

I thought my plugs weren't "going nowhere" either. OOOPS!
If there's no "issue", how did the rep from the extended warranty company know so much about it?

Yeah, you're mistaken on both counts: you're zero for two.
There is no TSB for the blown plug issue. And some F-150 owners with trucks still under warranty have had this repair denied for a number of different reasons (changing their own plugs, non-OEM plugs installed, installing non-OEM air filters, other unrelated mods, etc). And there's as many reports of stock trucks blowing plugs as those with mods.
Keep pluggin' away, though: all odds say you're bound to get it right eventually.

Correct - there is no TSB directly referencing the spark plug blowout issue. There is a TSB that does state that using a Helicoil to repair stripped threads on the spark plug threads is not an approved method of dealing with it. Only a full head replacement is Ford's approved repair method.
If the plugs were changed, then Ford does have the right to deny the warranty, unless Ford did the replacement. I see no problems there.

feefer,
You have made 71 posts on this forum, and all but two have to do with this spark plug issue. I realize you have had to put out a large expense for this problem and I can understand your frustration, but it's time to let this issue go. Nothing is going to be changed from posting continuously on this forum about it. Nobody here makes the decisions for Ford, so you're preaching to the wrong congregation. It just seems like this spark plug issue has become an obsession for you, which can't be healthy. Enjoy the holidays.

Hi Naviman,
Thanks for your genuine concern about my mental health, dude.
My experience is that people tend to post unsolicited advice like yours on bulletin boards when there's some unresolved issue in their OWN lives that they're grappling with. I think someone recently posted that same question to you about your posting to this site so frequently, when you don't even own a Ford truck?
Actually, I never would've brought it up (unless you did), since in reading many threads I've seen that you're knowledgable and generally helpful, offering useful and well-intentioned advice to newbies (all the more amazing, since you don't own a Ford truck). Of course, I wouldn't have known this about you UNLESS I read other threads that interest me, which I do. Unlike some, I know how to use the search engine, and have found answers to many other questions without having to post my question in a new thread.
Call me crazy, but I only feel compelled to post to a thread when I have something valid to offer, rather than posting just for the sake of posting. Notice that all my posts are responses: I believe I've started only ONE thread on the 'Spark Plug' issue (other people have felt the need to start their own).....
In this thread, Rocks posted utter nonsense on an issue he knows little about, and one I happen to know alot about, so excuse me for correcting the information and trying to make sure readers aren't misinformed about the issue. Shame on me!!
Naviman, I remember that early on you tried to squelch the whole 'blown plug' thing a number of times without success, and I think you got your ears clipped back by other posters on that point, but I think you need to GET OVER IT. Like I said, you seem reasonable and well-intentioned, but don't let your ego get so tied up in any of this that you lose your objectivity and willingness to help others. You've got alot to offer.

Thanks for the advice Chris, but you seem to be off on some of your facts. I do own a f150 family member. If you notice at the bottom of my posts, there is a Navigator. They share many of the same components as an F150 TRUCK and also has a 5.4 engine made by Ford. There is also a seperate section for Expeditions/Navigators on this forum, so I think when you add all that up, I have just as much right to be here as anybody else. Of all the threads I have been involved in , I can think of only one other time, besides yourself now, that a person questioned my validity of being on this forum. I never thought of this forum as being an exclusive club for only F150 TRUCK owners. I hope you don't truly feel that way.

Where does this experience come from? Are you professionally trained to make this sort of assumption? I hope not, because you are definitely way off base. Many of your posts have been unsolicited, so are we to assume that there are some unresolved issues in your life that you are grappling with?

I never tried to squelch anything early on. Like you, I have offered my opinions on the subject and other subjects. You may not have agreed with my opinions, but that's what forums are for isn't it? If you consider people firing back at me for my opinion as getting my ears clipped, then I think everybody falls into that category. You seem to be taking a fair amount of heat lately yourself, so how are your ears doing? One thing I'm curious about, what is it that I'm suppose to "GET OVER IT"?
My only intention was that it seems this subject keeps going around in circles and offers no solutions or conclusions and that maybe this subject needs a little rest. People seem to be getting very edgy and most of the conversations aren't being very productive. I appreciate your kind words about my intent on this forum and I will assure you that my ego is very well under control. I use this forum to learn from others and offer whatever advice I can to hopefully help others.

Yep, blown plugs are an issue! A $30,000 truck shouldn't be blowing plugs out. I'm as big a Ford man you will find but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Bickering about this issue won't get anybody anywhere except mad. If you havn't had a plug blow out yet then of course you won't think it is a problem. Given the number of Ford trucks on the road, even if it were only 1 in every 1,000 that had this occurr, I'd say that is alot of blown plugs! I have 2 co-workers have this happen after my own experience and they know nothing about this board. Kinda makes you wonder how many more are out there that we don't here about. Maybe those who don't agree should stop coming back to this post and leave it for the, "Blown Plug Club Members".
