I'm FORD thru & thru. I've driven 6 F150screws as company trucks, all to 130K miles in the OIL PATCH. Not a much tougher go then that. No major problems as long as the regular maintanence is followed and the tires and wheels are kept balanced and rotated. I'm next to retirement age and I liked my F150s so much I went down and baught myself a new 09 Lariat with all the "goodies"!! I'll get my last new F150 company screw in Jan.2010 and I'm sure it'll take me to the rocking chair with no problems.

2002 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 5.4 with 163,000. Still runs awesome. Needs exhaust leak fixed and another coil is going out but those are the first problems in a long time. Going to the shop next week to get her back on par. I have kept really good care of all the mechanicals though. The most I've dropped on one item was for the auto climate control module which wasn't cheap new...around $500 if I remember correctly. I've replaced two spark plug coils as well. Hoping to hit 200K and drive it as long as possible. Nothing like having a sweet looking truck without payments.

225,000 miles on my 97 BMW 528i...I suspect that don't count though! LOL

As a further aside, car was bought about a year ago...one owner car and I got a stack of service records about an inch thick if you compress the paper down tightly! I've never added it all up, but there has got to be about $25k worth of repairs done to that car!! To the car's credit though, it drives superbly, looks beautiful, no squeaks or rattles, and is surprisingly easy to work on.

As for my Ford...I'm at 92,000...so she'll be joining the club soon.

With technology of the last 15-20 years, any car seems capable of making it to 100,000. By my expectations, a good vehicle is one that makes it to 150,000 with minimal problems. I've had 2 previous Fords: an Exploder and a Mustang. Both were great...sold them both right around 130,000 miles and they had minimal problems over 5+ years of ownership. I've driven loads of fleet GM vehicles...sedans...and they are crap. It's unreal how cheap they feel.

Smile 2003 F150 Supercrew with 134xxx miles

I just bought a 2003 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4 l v8. So far, this truck is awesome! I just came out of a 2000 f150 supercab 2wd with the 4.6 l v8, with 129000 miles on the odometer when I sold it, so I wasn't too concerned about buying a truck with 133000 on the odometer. I figured a six year old truck with that many miles had to see the highway alot, and that's the easiest mileage on a vehicle, right?

So far, so good. I have noticed the whirring noise from the power steering pump, so I'll need to check the fluid. I'm no stranger to Fords, so I'm all too familiar with their quirks. But I also know that I and other family and friends have had the best luck with Fords in the past. I hope to put another 130000 miles on this truck before having to dive into anything too major.

And as they say, old Fords never die, they just go faster!

I have 186,000 miles on my '97. Have had some problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Overall, the truck is solid. Thinking about a motor swap soon though. I have a 4.2L and want to swap into a 5.0L. Looking around for a motor now.

Bought new in 1998 (leftover) 1997 4X2 F150 XLT with about 42 miles on it. It now has 108,000 miles. Truck had issues early on with Pitman arm, rear end & exhaust when it had about 22,000 miles on it. Not sure why the rear end would have problems since it never towed anything then and only had highway miles. All of it covered under warranty.

Truck was always very well maintained with oil changes every 3500 to 4000 miles and tran oil change at required intervals (approx 30K).

Truck is now having several issues. Air Cond has freon leak (not a big deal). Front end ball joints will need replacing before long (according to 3 different shops). Engine has a knock which this morning was very much pronounced. I hope it is not a connecting rod or something (need to have it looked at asap). I have replaced the front rotors and bearings once since new and at least 3 to 4 sets of brake pads in its life so far. Other than typical minor maintenance items (spark plugs, filters, fan belt, light bulbs etc) I don't recall any other issues. I am surprised that the engine would be knocking since the Truck is not abused and does not have what I consider extreme service. Most of it's life is highway miles. The only thing that might not be considered light service is the stop and go traffic driving to and from work. I know of others who have got alot more miles out of their similar equipped F150 and did not take as good of care of it. Well, at least I was able to get 100K although I was hoping to get 150K before deciding to part with it. Maybe it is time to consider a new 4X4 although I was doing fine without those payments, taxes etc.

Update: I forgot to mention that I got 99K+ miles on the original set of 4 Goodyear tires. Goes to show that rotating and proper inflation really extend tire life.

Im in the club twice. 219,000 miles on my 2001. I think it runs as strong as the day I got it. Just went elk hunting this weekend and we pulled hill after hill, climbed rocks, high speed and low speed over the "washboard" roads and we did this in 2wd, 4wd and 4wd low range. No problems.

02 screw 5.4. im right now at 137,000. will easily hit 140,000 by the new year. i bought it used 2 years and 2 months ago at 90,000 without batting an eyelash cuz i knew it was good. love my truck. no mechanical problems that i didnt make happen. lol.

i hot rod my truck regularly, probably more than i should, but whatever. lol. was messin around on a gravel road and put it in the ditch, in some water, you can guess what happened. number one hydrolocked and bent the connecting rod and messed up the piston. didnt do any other damage to it though. but now i gotta fix that. probably gunna go with a forged set up. maybe even a stroker. figured, i broke it, which is unfortunate, but nows a good time to make things better. lol.

uses no more oil than specified. starts and runs beautifully. very very reliable. interior has no raddles. chassis has no squeeks. everything still works the way its supposed to. and the switch on the fly 4 wheel drive is great.

where as if you were to "stupidly" buy a chevy, you would, at my mileage, have horrendous rattles and wind noise and squeeks. the you would be mad at the 4 wheel drive, and who knows what mechanically probably woulda gone wrong by now. probably transmission, unless you were lucky enough to get the 4l80e.

anybody reading this wondering if they should buy one, DO IT, DO IT, DO IT. they are awesome trucks. especially if you throw on some fun go fast parts. lol. built very well and very strong. only down fall is the coil on plug style coils go out occastionally, but its so common that they are at tops $50 at any parts store that ive seen and most stock 4 or more.
