Unhappy Torn with Exhaust, Need Help...

Hi, I just bought a 2000 F-150 V6 4.2 Extended-Cab Automatic. and I am torn with the desicion on installing an Exhaust system. Some say it will hurt the low end alot, and that i am better off leaving it stock. Well the 4.2 doesn't have a lot of low end to start, And I always thought and Air Inatake System and a better exhaust system regardless of the motor, it would increase the performance of the vehicle. I installed a K&N Filter and replaced the factory with it. Immediatly I noticed the Truck responding better. I would apreciate some input on this. I do not want a racing machine but i love my truck to run great. I'm also looking to get a nice sound out of the exhaust system. and i am not sure wich brand to get. between the Gibson and the flowmaster 40 Delta flow series...
wich one will sound tougher ?

P.s.
I am saving some money to get the chip

Borla! Cat-back from borla sounds the best on the 6's.

Flowmasters are overrated and most will not gain anything if not lose depending on the setup... of course wrongdayj will be on praising the flows.

I'd say it's a tossup between Gibson, Borla, or Magnaflow... any of those you will have nice gains on and will sound nice.

talley i beg to differ, the flowmaster sound is disierable for a lot of people i favor it more than the borla sound or the magnaflow..
I ve had my flows for a year and not one single itty bitty problem and nothing but compliments, sounds just like a V8 with my set up.

But there is allways room for opinion!!!!

but if AB4AD if you would like i have a sound clip of the gibson super truck cat back system and a clip of the magnaflow cat back set as well if you would like to here them just reply or send me an email.

You might want to try a good glasspack (where legal!). That's what I did (haven't been ticketed, yet; knock on wood), and I gained a noticable amout of low-end compared to the Flowmaster 50-series I had. I do have a different engine than you do, but I believe Tally had the same setup on his truck a while back. For the price, I think it's not too bad.

Yes I did... 1.8rwhp and 7.6rwtq!!!

all for $20! 29 1/2" cherry bomb at pepboys and another 2 bucks on exhaust clamps.

AWESOME SETUP!

I just like the loudness of straight pipes!

One of the huge problem is that Borla, Gibson amd Magnaflow are rather
expensive to then not like the sound or the performance of it... My truck is a bit heavier than most of yours. mine is and Supercab, and like i said i don't expect it to fly. But i'm looking into the gears and the chip. Low ends kills me. Once it takes off i can deal with it.

I have to make the best out of 4.2.... I'm pretty sure i can make it respond really well...

I know you can... you'll need more gear than most tho.

I talked to a flowmaster rep, long story short they said the 50 series is what the flowmaster company recamends for sound and stuff for the 4.2s would of had it to but it diden't come in and had to leave the city without it
thats the one I will be buying..
