Question Ticking?

I was sitting in a drive through and i heard a ticking like i was low on oil. I just had it changed about 1000 miles ago and i am not low. Does anyone know what this might be...sounds like a lifter or a rod..but i dont know

Thanks
Heath

You only hear this at idle or do you hear this at cruising speed or w.o.t. ?

I have a ticking sound also but only when my truck dips to ~500rpms.

It could be a number of things....

The ticking is from the fuel injectors and is perfectly normal. Use a stethoscope or screwdiver to listen to them and you'll see.

I am aware of the loud injectors that we have... I don't know if this would be the problem... use a stethoscope like bwana says.

you can hear it with your ears if you just get close and touch an injector with your finger... and listen, see if the sound is in sync with the pulse feel of the injector.

I had a clicking in my trucks turns out it was a converter that the ceramic in side had broke apart. Got lucky on this one as they have to warranty converters for 70.000. DAVID
