Latest / Greatest Gapping Info for Ecoboost Plugs

Probably going to take on a plug change this weekend.... what is the latest and greatest guidance for the gap on the plugs?

Also, any suggestions on brands etc? I was planning on going Motorcraft (after confirming gap space) but could be swayed if there was a justifiable reason.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Gracias.

If you are tuned some tuners are telling people to take em down to .025

If you are stock then anywhere from .028 to .030 on the plug gaps. If it was me i would do the .028.

Motorcraft is still the best plugs from everything i have read. Get a set of sp534's from oreilly's for around 25 bucks and slap them in. Last set i got was already pregapped at .030

What KRC said is right on the money. The worst part is unplugging the coil packs and they're easy enough. Push the connector in then push down on the locking tab to get them to pop off easier. Pushing in releases the tension on the lock.

I thought the worst part was spending an hour or two looking for the 7th & 8th spark plugs before googling and finding out that it's a V6 truck

Ecoboosts are happiest with plug changes about every 40k.

The engine will let you know when the plugs are getting weak. A rough idle, stumble under a light load or misfires under a heavy load tell you right away the plugs are showing their age.

Most boosted engines are like this. Good thing is the plugs are cheap and the job is easy.

For longer coil life it's better to change the plugs "early" instead of waiting until you have a noticeable driveability/power issue

Is 0.028 still the recommended gap?

My 2012 EB just rolled over 40K so I ordered some new plugs, the MC sp534. Want to get them installed before doing some longer towing with the camper this summer... so far it is still running well but want to be proactive on this one.

Thanks
