I've had mine for over a year now with 13,500 miles on her. Absolutely no problems so far! And that is about 4,500 of those miles towing my 32' camper this past summer. I did have a relash done when it was in for service awhile back for harsh trans shifting and better fuel mileage but that is all since i drove her off the lot. Couldn't be happier with this truck!!

Closing in on 19k miles. Averaging 19.16 mpg life of the truck.

2012 FX4 Screw Eco. My lifetime shows quite a bit lower like 12-13mpg, but that's odd since I get 20+ on my freeway pieces, and 18mpg on the Trip A to work, so not sure where this 12mpg is coming from on Trip B. And my fuel gauge vs miles to go also match up with 20+ mpg... love this truck. I need better speakers and once that upgrade is done, I'll be in truck heaven.

Until I decide to upgrade for HIDs.

Reco, if that 12-13 is from 0-mile, off-the-lot kind of stuff, the first thou miles are run really rich to help break the engine in.

I went from averaging 19.5mpg highway, down to around 15 mpg. Truck misses on cold startup until it warms up, truck also randomly loses power on acceleration or doesn't respond with much power.

Regrets, hell yes... won't give Ford another chance and will tell everyone I know to run the other direction.

Anybody have a popping noise going up hill slow. Almost sounds like turbos surging or a miss.

^ It's probably your blow-off valve. The turbos are making more than full boost and the valve is releasing pressure. It did it all the time on mine when I had the CAI on.

Can't see it being blow off valve. I have a turbo gage and turbos are about half boost. They originally cured the problem with a software update but it's obvious that is not the problem. What is CAI?

I love the Ecoboost. Great for towing and a civil ride when not towing. But I have experienced the shudder/engine miss twice now. First time dealer reflashed the PCM. Second time they replaced a coil. So far it's OK. I read that some are experiencing moisture in the turbo but I have not seen rain for two months. I imagine Ford will figure it out soon.

Main problem is with dealer/service which is better or worse depending on where you go. I had a battle over oil changes. 6 quarts will overfill and read above the overfill line on the dip stick. Obviously a cup or so remains in the engine when drained. Dealer tried to tell me that more oil is better with the turbo. We went round and round until I convinced him to go check the Ecoboost's on his lot delivered from Ford. They all read at the full line. Now they don't just add 6 quarts and shove it out the door. Oh, and Ford Customer Service was useless in getting an answer. All they do is tell you to check with the dealer. NO one at Ford CS could/would give me an answer on the fill line for the Ecoboost

Anywhere in the cross hatching is fill level on all vehicles. To much oil is just as bad as not enough.

Prime81:

Has Ford fixed things for you now (several weeks since...) ?

Yes, overfilling the oil is bad. It can cause excess windage in the crankcase where it can cause engine vibration, and has also been known to cause blow-by, where oil actually gets forced UP the cylinder walls and past the rings. Not a good scenario.

Anybody know what ever happened to Ford's plan to uncap the turbos? On the SHO forum (2009) there was posted a Ford report about the use of the 3.5L/EB from the SHO in the F150s. But the 365HP in the SHO was to be buped up to 400HP in the F150 because the F150's drive train could handle the extra HP.

Comments?

Thanks!

^ I'm pretty sure they are just waiting to respond to competitors HP numbers. They'll debut their "all new motors" and Ford will simply respond with a typical power bump.

My issues are still ongoing, along with various other things with the engine. At this point I'm simply living with it until Ford gets their head out of their ***.

So far I have the following:

Rough cold starts
Longer than usual start times
Significant smoke after startup
Significant smoke on acceleration after startups
Loss of power after cold starting
Sluggish shifting after cold starting
Shuttering and loss of power when accelerating(randomly)
Random shuttering when stopped at idle, feels like truck is missing.

Mileage is currently worse than my 5.7l Tundra was... about 3-4mpg worse on the highway, about the same pulling a load.

So no my problems have not been fixed.

I changed my oil at 1500 miles, was pitch black. Checked oil yesterday at 2500 miles and it looks like it's ready to be changed again. I used Pennzoil Platinum oil, and a k&n oil filter. This is a gas engine, not a damn diesel. I plan to get an analysis done on the oil, and then will take all my findings down to the dealership to prove that my engine is not doing what it should.
