Talked to BG rep today.....
New here.
I just did an oil change. First one I did myself. After reading this thread I will run half a quart low. Or in other words, I just put in 5.5 quarts back in. I find the dipstick very hard to read after it has been running. I rechecked it this morning after it settled for the night. It was easier to read cold and gave the correct reading. I had just put in 5 quarts yesterday and it was at the bottom of the safe zone. I figure running right in the middle of the safe zone will allow for expansion and back pressure. I used Mobile 1 and a K&N oil filter.
Last time I changed the oil at Kwil Kar and they looked lost trying to change the oil. I later checked the oil and It showed oil way up on the dipstick. I took it back and they said they put in 6 quarts like it says. They drained some oil till it was it was under the line on the dipstick. After doing it myself, Im glad I did and will continue to do it myself from now on. The rubber plugs were gone. I dont know if they left them out or the truck just didnt come with them. the bottom of the cover where you drain the oil was a mess. Lots of oil all over everything. I could also be that I have a leak on the tranny. Ill have to get it checked because this truck has no dipstick for the transmission. I have been noticing the transmission hard shifting from time to time.

May as well run MC semi-synth - it's far better, safe and you need to change frequently on EB's: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4843138-post23.html

What is the problem with M1 silver 5/30?
Check out Labnerds' and GLC's posts - but in short it was found to fail wear testing - a huge embarrasment for Mobil. The EP stuff appears okay, though.
Here's just a couple of many, many on this topic:

I had to have tranny gasket changed after I changed my oil the first time and found a leak. Guys at my dealership said there is a TSB out for all engines with 6spd tranny, as many gaskets have been failing. Had to order parts, but work was fast.
Very interesting thread. I want to add my 0.02 worth. I have a 2011 EB with 14000 km's on it. Currently it is being converted to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Part of the conversion process involves removing the intake manifold to install the injector tubes to the heads right at the intake runner.
I called the installer to see how the conversion was coming along and he commented on an slightly oily build up on all of the intake valves. On each cylinder one valve stem/valve head has slightly more build up than the other. He has taken pictures but not forwarded them to me yet. This concerned me and lead me on a search of intake build up and I first found all the VW/Audi posts and now I am here.
I'm going to look at the PCV tubes mentioned above to see if there is oil there and if one side has more than the other.
Aussiekeeper it would be very helpful if you could post pics of your setup or link to where I might be able to purchase the canisters.
I am overseas working at the moment but will be returning in a few days. I will be picking up my truck from the installer on Wednesday. He has it running on CNG and says it runs very well.
If he can email the pictures of the deposits I will post them.

Is there any other trans available? Not that I am aware of......
I know this is a big thread, and maybe I'm skimming too much. But one thing I'm not seeing is how this is a problem. Yes, there's build-up on the intake valves... your point?
Does it have a quantifiable affect on performance?
Does it decrease engine life?
How do you explain Diesel engines that seem to go fine for the better part of a million miles with this "Problem"?
It's not just DI engines that would be susceptible to this, LP Gas and Natural Gas engines are in the same boat along with carbureted engines.
Maybe I've been on the internet too long, but my inner skeptic is screaming at me right now.

Hugh Heffner and I have something in common. We both like pictures.
I keep coming back on here to see some "dirty" pictures and am sorely disappointed. I'm beginning to think this thread is going nowhere fast.
