Rough idle?

Hey,

I have a 2000 4.2L with several exhaust leaks, but while idling seems to have a slight shake to it, nothing major it's just more of what you hear, and if you look at the engine occasionally a slight vibration too it... It runs fine, besides the vibration in the pedal, but I know this is from the exhaust leak because whenever I got it fixed last time it was fine.

Anyways so what I'm asking, would spark plugs/wires cause a rough idle? I'm thinking about going in and changing both. It's a minor rough idle but I'd like it as smooth as possible.

Also sometimes when you start it, it's a bit shaky the first 10 seconds as it's turning over and on???

Thanks,
Brendan

I got the same issue but it sounds like mine is worse. Check out my thread 97 4.2L Occasional Rough Idle

Hmm - the OP has a V6, and you linked him to a 12 year old thread about V8's?
