Does anyone have some miles per gallon numbers towing about 6000 - 7000 pounds tailer? Also I would be very interested in towing mpg thur the mountians.

I have not had a chance to tow yet (only 200miles on the truck so far)... but from what I have read from those who have... expect in the area of 7-11mpg

 

I think you are going to get a lot of people expressing disappointment with their towing numbers. The ecoboost is a powerful engine and, if that power is used, it will happily consume fuel. If driven carefully, I would expect towing MPG to be about the same as the 5.0. My buddy's ecoboost gets a solid 3 mpg better than my 5.4 when they are driven empty, at same speed and conditions.

 

I tow a 6800 lb, (dry wt) camper and I see on level interstate at 60 mph as high as
12.8 MPG. Also seen as low as 9.4 on mild incline routes.

 

I just towed a 7,000lb trailer through some pretty good hills.

I got 13mpg going 60mph, I also had a truck full of people and gear too.

 

We need truck info with these numbers or they mean nothing! I'm sure my 4X2 scab with 3.15 rears will get better than a 4X4 screw with 3.73's. Also some trailer info too, a 11'tall TT will drag you down alot more than a car hauler etc..

 

Got the 2011 F150 V6 Ecoboost with extended trailering package. 3:73 gears. 5.5 shortbed. Currently has 1200 miles on it. Camper is a 2010 Keystone Hornet. 33 ft. with a dry wt of 6800 lbs. It is loaded with all basic essentials except holding tanks are empty. Travel with myself, the OH and 2 small dogs.

 

2011 EB SCREW 4x4, 3:55s - towed 150 mile round trip into the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee (Pigeon Forge). Came in from the Townsend/Wears Valley Road side.

Truck has 1500 miles on it. Trip average of 11.4mpg. Last month, same route, 1000 miles on truck, trip average of 10.1.

~7500# Travel Trailer, 30' long Sportsmen by Kayzee. Plus family of four, four bikes, etc.

 

Dont have any solid mileage yet, i have just set up the hitch and towed it around locally. Judging from what I seen so far I will take a guess at 10 - 12 mpg towing, and for those with a heavy foot 8 - 10.

 

Cool, my 08 Superduty w/ 6.4L diesel only mustered 8mpg towing a 7k lb toyhauler. The EB performs better and the fuel cost less. Win win when I get mine.

 

Curious as to why u chose the 3.15 gears when u would be towing such a large trailer or do u mostly tow in the flatlands?

 

He probably doesn't have any "Horseshoe Bend Hills" to play with like you do.

 

Indeed, that hill is a b*tch. This is the first summer with my current setup, so haven't been that way yet with the trailer, but will be, so we will see how it does.

 

I towed my boat and cargo 400 miles round trip Memorial Weekend. Mileage was 14.0. Boat is an 18' Ranger - about 4,000 lbs + whatever was in the back of my truck.

Ecoboost crew cab with 3.73 gears and heavy duty tow package. My truck had 1,500 on the odometer at the start of the trip.

 

I only tow it once a month or so just here in Fl. always nice and flat. Don't let those gears deceive you, she will get it going and keep it going as well as my 08 V10 with 4.10s and 4X4 did. The difference would only show up north in the mountains and I have no intentions of going north with the rv. The last tow I made with the Superduty V10 was from Home to Daytona about 2hrs each way and $80.00 in fuel each way getting 6-8 mpg. The truck only got 11-13 empty! I had to stop the insanity! I will say this if this truck had the 4.10s it would out perform the V10 even in the mountains!
