EB economy video...

The only info missing is what gears it has and what the rim size is. I'd guess 3.55 and 18". That's some good economy for something with less than 100 miles on it. Makes it even harder to wait for mine, should have been here this week

Enjoy!!

Just put a security deposit down today on a XLT 4X4 S/Cab with EcoBoost, 3.55 LS and 18" wheels. It was on the dealer's web site inventory with window sticker, but they haven't received it yet. Now the waiting game and sleepless nights begin. Wonder if the truck in the video was a 4X2. Either way the MPG was impressive. I'll be in the EcoBoost Club soon.

So he started with 36mpg showing on the instant, and it dropped to 24mpg by 2:00 or so...

Drafting? Downhill? Hull of a tailwind?

Also, I don't know anywhere where I can drive 55 for 80 miles without getting a big rig or crotch rocket impaled on my rear bumper...

eah, screw it, I still want one... LOL

When I am cruising the interstate at 55-60mph with no major hills to climb. My meter reads around 22mpg.

I got a loaded crew FX4 with 3.73 though. He never said what his truck was...

30+ mpg at the start He had to be coasting down a hill or something! Still pretty sweet though!

We would have ordered one already if those were the numbers we saw on our 4 EB test drives.
Every one we have driven was a 4X4 Screw 3:73-1 with a 6.5' bed. Notice he said it gets 25 MPG highway.

All I know is on a 90 mile run at 75 we got just under 15 mpg. Nice truck and engine but the MPG's we have seen on every test don't come close to what he's showing.
Maybe the 4 we drove had something wrong with them?

Think it could be the difference of driving 55MPH vs. 75MPH?

We drove 55 on our second to last test drive and didn't see anywhere close to 25 mpg's. I really wasn't concerned with 55 MPH since that is a speed that doesn't translate to real world driving around here. I'm more concerned with speeds under 40 and over 65.

I hate the way they rate these vehicles for City/HWY. Who drives 55 anyways? They need to get these out on the FREEWAY and drive them at 70-75 MPH for real MPG ratings.

Conventional wisdom says that the mileage should improve once they break in. However, the EB hasn't been on the street long enough for us to have any members whose EB's are broken in. The ones used by the traveling road show that got mileage in the 20's all had plenty of miles on them.

My 5.0 does the same thing. I fill up and drive 45 mph for roughly 3 miles to my home and it averages 25.1 mpg. I get up the next morning and drive to work at 60 mph and it slowly drops to about 20.2 mpg. I speed up to 65 mph and it drop's to 19.9 and at 70 mph it reads 19.8 mpg.

My STX averages about .5 mpg higher than old school math.

We'd be doing a heck of a lot better with our fuel mileage if we all drove 55 mph and did away with E10 gas.

FWIW Jason emailed me back and told me that it has 3.73 gears with the 17" machined Aluminum Wheels with Pianted Accents. I really wanted this combo over what I ordered but I wanted Limited Slip (needed max tow) and a couple other cabin features that weren't offered in the XLT package.

I really felt that with the lighter weight (rotational mass) and slightly smaller diameter tire this combo would really perform well and it looks like it does.

The only flaw in the video is this wasn't a loop. He should have done the same steps going back in the other direction just to make sure the wind wasn't being too much of a factor.

I think FX4 said it best that the higher gears keep the engine out of the boost a little more which keeps the mpg's up.
