I need to replace the 4.2 in my 1997 f150 2wd (vin 2) and cant find a decent one. Will one out of a 1997 e150 van 4.2 (vin 2) work pretty ez? Or am I asking for trouble?

You shouldn't have any issues....may have to alter a few accessories to get everything to fit right.

I would go ahead and grab the ECU from the E150 as well, if you do get the engine.

Also, wait for some others to chime in before taking my answer for certain.

 

Intake setup is different. Go ahead and grab the block but use the intake off your 97 engine (if you still have access)

 

Also replace the upper and lower intake gaskets and front cover gasket before you drop it in.
