your engine is loud by nature... what makes it quiet is the exhaust. the cats and the muffler and the piping quiet it down. so cut it all off and it will be VERY loud

Talking

Maaaaan,, Listen carefully to any V-6 with an exhaust modification. YUCK!!. Sorry folks, but it just isnt right. I know, slam slam, I'm a bad guy, but compare with any V-8 and you Have to admit it. The trusty ole 6 should whisper, not try to sound like something its not..... MHO.......

Unhappy

I'm not to keen on V6 sound either. I think the only way to get a good V8 sound is to have a midi file and a computer that modulates sound as per the throttle. And have a sort of boom tube shapped like a muffler that could make it look like dual exhaust? This way at idle you get that cool low V8 rumble and at WOT, well you know

Anyway I wish people could record their V6 set up and publish it on the web! I could help out with the server and bandwidth. Anyone? If you can't get it onto a computer then you can send me a tape of the sound and I will convert it to MP3 files if you wish!

THAT would help out a lot of V6 owners to have a list of mods and the end product as factor of sound! SO I'm willing to help out...

ooops sorry didn't mean to be insulting I too own a V6 which is a good engine but as far as sound goes (which is not really a pure yes/no discusion) in my opinion it doesn't sound to good with an aftermarket exhaust! BUT if anyone here has a good sounding engine then please record it and we can all settle this ongoing debate about sound

The offer is still up! I can do everything in my power to allow internet users to be able to judge the sound them selves and at the same time other fellow V6 owners find out which product works best! As I feel this is trial and error to get that sound you want to hear!

As I should have said; sound is rather subjective, like music.

P.S I was serious about that midi sound thing! Imagine having 4cy Civics sounding like 460s LOL It could be the wave of the future if companies turn our gas guzlers into hybrid trucks with NO sound. At least we can still have the sound we all love and not have to pay for the gas and destroy nature Well anyway, wait until I get the project off the ground LOL I'll be rich

Have fun

Is simply louder what you want?

When I was installing my catback, I started my truck after removing the old exhaust and before I bolted on the new. It was very loud, and very...V-6. I have seen and heard too many guys driving S-10s or Rangers with duals that sound like absolute $h!t. I understand that they went about things the wrong way, but it does seem like an easy mistake to make.
My Gibson sweptside is perfect (for me), it has a great tone, but is not much louder than stock.
Other noise producing mods. An Airraid produces more engine noise (I think, I don't have one). A throttle body spacer will produce a high pitched whine that will probably drive you crazy.
