Thumbs up 4.2L V6 Supercharger Update! Yes, We're Making one!

As some of you know Autonet Performance has been working on a supercharger unit for quite some time for the 4.2L V6 F-150 Truck.

We have expected gains of 100 horsepower or more!.

We have no hardcore ETA, but our closest estimated guess is release by Feb. 2001.

We have some info on www.autoperformance.net.

Please keep in mind, that the unit is *NOT* ready yet. here are some quick stats:

Vortech Supercharger (most likely the V2SQ).
Power Pipes: Yes, this is an option. (yields 1-2 psi more)
Aftercooler: Another Option being released Later for even MORE PSI.

The units cost is not known yet as we have to take into concideration all costs incurred to produce the unit. The F-150's 4.2L V6 is a great engine. And your towing and speed capacity will prove the supercharger is worth while.

We will most likely not be selling only the brackets, or seperate parts. We need to know how many people are in fact interested in purchasing the unit.

Our web site has the information we have available right now. If you wish to check it out do so. If you have any further questions please email myself at michael@autoperformance.net. If you have general questions or comments about the company feel free to email autonet@autoperformance.net and either myself or my partner will promptly reply.

This is an update as I was asked to post about it on this site. I will also be replying to supercharger related questions. If you need help in producing your own unit feel free to ask.

What is the estimated price on the kit and how much will instalation probably cost? Will we need to get reprogammed superchips?

Estimated Price can not be quoted. Our "expected" price should be AROUND $3500 USD. This is just a guess. Of course if we get enough people interested or once we're closer we will accept pre-orders, the price will go down conciderably. As for the superchips. IF you have one yes, you *should* get it re-programmed. The Superchips default program was designed for a naturally aspirated engine on high octane fuel, this could cause damage to your engine if used in conjunction with a supercharger.

I am very interested in purchasing a supercharger for my truck when they become available. The added power will be very welcome, but I am curious though, with a supercharger on this engine, what will that do for towing ability?? Will we get a significant power increase in that department or is it not recommended in towing?? I'm very interested in the performance aspects just curious how it will affect the utility of the truck for pulling etc. Any information would be appreciated.

Cool

Mike,
I agree, the 4.2 V-6 is a Great engine. The addition of a supercharger will make our trucks even more enjoyable than they already are. Thanks for the Good news.

Same here...I really don't wanna be messing around with a 20k truck then screw something up. Making it a 20k hunk of junk.

Thank you for the responses;
As Michael has stated in an earlier post on our own board a while back. We will be providing both detailed instructions (including what tools you will require) and contacts with garages in your area. We are working on seting up deals with garages accross the US and Canada.
Once this is setup, you will be able to purchase the kit and we can either A) have it shipped to the garage for install or B) have it shipped to you with account information for the selected garage.
If there is a garage in your area which is capable of installing performance products please email michael@autoperformance.net with the details. We will contact them with a marketing package as soon as it becomes available.
For those of you who insist on doing the work yourself (like me). We will provide detailed, easy to follow instructions for the installation. We will also have technical support boards on our website, and are looking into telephone support.

Thank you,

Paul,
are you going to offer a Group introductory price for us?

as in if XX number of Online members agree to purchase we will do this price?
If more ?

I know that those that are "sitting on the fence " trying to decide would do so if they knew it was a special offer

Me I can't wait, Platinum Visa just burning a hole in my wallet

regulator:
We are definately looking into that possibility. Michael would be your contact at this time for special pricing. Because the R&D team do not have a set price untill probably around the 28th of NOV, we cannot set the price yet.
I will tell Mike to check back on these boards with a little pricing update.

Thanks,
