Post 4.2 liter V-6 headers

I just recieved another email from jba headers.They seem to think that our headers will be in production by sometime in january.They still don't have any hp and torque ratings.They said our headers will be dynoed somewhere near the time of release.Patience is a virtue.Jan. can't get here soon enough.

Thumbs up

lightningcrashz,

Thanks for the inside word.
Good to hear that they're keeping you well informed about the progress on these headers. I agree with you January won't be here fast enough. I guess it will make it that much better when they are available for sale.

When all these mods are on the market what do you think these trucks will run with a supercharger, headers, and 4.10s.

As far as I know no price has been determined yet.I am sure they have one in mind,they just don't want to let us know before the headers are on the market. I would feel alot more comfortable about the supercharger reaching production if it was being made by one of the major supercharger manufacturers.Autoperformance.net just seems to be poking along, taking their own sweet time.

Autoperformance.net will be using a V-2SQ vortech supercharger. They will be making the mounting hardware plus small fuel system upgrades,etc themselves. Expected 30%-55% (273-325.5HP), more with intercooler. This information was given to me by Michael Ruggiero of autoperformance.net

I sure hope the supercharger is under 3k. And hopefully the headers will be reasonable as well.

"surecharger" oops-Yes it would be a good thing if the supercharger is under 3k.I am hoping the headers aren't over 450 bucks.It will take a lot of piggy bank robbing to get these if they are high priced( don't really want to dip into the savings}

Ok maybe this should be a new topic BUT,
couldn't you swap in a bigger moter for 2-3k dollars? I'm looking at long term for my truck, I have some lift and bigger tires planned and I know I'll need more.
Supercharger would be great, BUT if I swap to a larger motor I could always later add a supercharger to that if I needed even more???

I figured I'd be able to get a 4.6 or something when I need to replace mine ( I prefer my manual transmission, not sure if the 5.4 and manual from the Super Duty would work easily)

I really am not sure about the price of a new 4.6 or 5.4.I am thinking closer to 3k than to 2k.Could you justify pulling a motor that has nothing wrong with it(besides lack of power ro turn those really big tires). I don't think the 5.4 will work in this application though.I think in the f150s you need an auto tranny for it.Super duty tranny may work, who knows?If fit will add in another 1k or so for the tranny.So lets do some math
3k-new motor(5.4)
+
1K new tranny (lowball estimate)
+
500 or so for new computer(probably a low estimate)
+
500 or so for installtion(just a guess)
_________
5,000 dollars for a new motor and tranny
These numbers are just guestimates and I may research this out a little further for a more accurate dollar amount.

Good point,
Might be better to keep the 4.2 and just wring it out.

Headers= ???
Supercharger 2k
Ignition- 400 (?)
electric fans (?)

Either way I'm dropping my gears to 4.56's
and only going to run a moderatly large tire ( read not frekin huge 44 more like 35/36 's)
