Update on my truck situation

I'm sure you can recall I was talking about selling my truck. Well, the guy even gave me a deposit. When I got there, he thought it was a 4x4. I'm not sure why. Sure, I could have kept the $500 deposit. He even said, it was his fault for not checking and he would understand if I kept it. People make mistakes, and I wasn't going to be a d*ck.

Anyway, realized that even though I do want a V8. I love my truck. I've never seen another XL in this good of condition.

That said, I just brought a 'winter truck' so mine doesn't have to see salt. I got a silver 2000 F150 XL V6 5speed 4x4 reg cab long bed in great condition with 100k miles for $1800. Gonna clean it up, paint the frame and all that. I like my truck a lot more, look-wise No offense to the OBS guys.

Anyway, I'll get some pics of them together as soon as I get it cleaned up. I don't think it's been washed in years or ever waxed.

I suppose we can let you come crawling back to the V6 board. Especially since you got another V6 truck. Looking forward to seeing the pics of the "new to you" truck.

Hahah. Thanks for letting me back. Definitely excited to have 4wd for winter. Speaking of that, when I put my other truck away for the winter, is there anything special I should do? It's going to be in a garage. Not heated, but completely closed off. It's right off the house so it should stay a bit warmer than outside.

We have an 00 corvette we garage up every winter and we only do a couple of things to it, 1) wax er down it helps a lot with the dust and other things lol. 2) we normally shypion the gas out, because if it sits for a couple of months it will tend to get gummy and can plug up the injectors. 3) finally we always disconnect the battery, put some fresh gas just about a gallon in the take with some fuel stabilizer so that we can go out and start it once a week or so, you always want to keep those gaskets lubed up! if the sit for a very long time, they tend to get brittle so .... lol

thats what we do just my 2 cents

I did something similar, I've owned 4WD for the past 15 years and when the lease ended on my old '06 4WD Scab I decided to take advantage of the pricing on the last of the '08's and bought one of the last production V6 manuals. I really like the truck, and plan on handing it down to my kids, but miss the 4WD in the winter. So, a few weeks ago I bought a 4WD '02 Explorer for the winter months. 104k on the odometer, and having some fun "fixing" it up. So far just the normal wear and tear items, struts/springs, filters, oil, brake pads. I'm hoping to get another 50k plus on it. I don't know that my F150 will sit all winter, probably only on the worst of days for snow. I'd take your tires/rims off too so they don't flat spot on you, or just drive it when the roads are clear (unless your taking it off your insurance).

Fill the gas tank and add the appropriate amount of fuel stabilizer. Change the oil and filter. Leave the wheels and tires on, but put it up on jackstands.

I would just make it a point to try and drive it at least once every 2 - 3 weeks. Even if it's just on a quick errand run or something. My truck sits most of the time year round covered up way back in the yard, but I always drive it once every 3 weeks or so.
