I just picked up a 1997 F-150. With the V6, 5 Sp, JVC Deck, new tires, and a perfectly straight body. Its a Blue, Single Cab, Shortbed, FlareSide. Also only 102,xxx miles on it.

But the Motor has a knock too it.
Im learning about the 4.2 horror hydrolock.
And im thinking thats the problem, except she doesnt drink any water.
And the previous owner (origional 1 owner) Had all of the re-call stuff fixed at about 75,000 miles.

He went to start it up one morning at she started knocking! No warning, nothing.
It has sat for about 1 year, and i bought it last week.

It runs perfectly fine, doesnt use any water, and all of the plugs look good.
No check engine, no nothing.

But the knocking sounds like its coming from the front drivers cylindar. And it really sounds like a rod knock.

But there are no viborations, miss's or anything.

Any ideas?

drain the tank and run fresh fuel? maybe it needs a little top end cleaning?

 

what did you pay for it, and does the a/c work?
