E3 spark plugs

Your particular question has not been beaten to death but when it comes to plugs for the 4.2s, they can be very picky. Best to stick with Motorcraft, Autolites or Denso Iriudiums. Just about anything else will make the motor run rough, especially Bosch. Never put those plugs in, although there has been the rare occasion of Bosch not running rough but well over 95% of the time they suck in these motors.

I've seen people buying them at $15/plug thinking their mileage is going to improve by 4-5 mpg or get copious amounts of horsepower and i just roll my eyes and walk away

I hear ya. There is no way I would spend $15 a plug. I did not think I would gain a crazy amount of HP by changing out the plugs but for less than $15 for the set I figured, WTH It runs fine with them, but I wouldn't have bought them if they weren't cheap.

The part number is E3.60. I just picked some up from amazon.com for $0.88. Eighty-eight cents, no tax, + free shipping. You can't beat amazon.com's sale prices.
I just saw that Autolite 97045 spark plug wires are $16.90 after rebate. Any feedback on Autolite wires, as opposed to Motorcraft?

Get a video. Make a video. And be sure to wince at the part of the Ford dealer sticking his boot up your *** when he tells you to press real hard, there are three copies

Not that anyone could really care at this point.
The E3 spark plugs work. If you can find them for less than the cost of a MotorCraft SP504, then it's an option.
The Autolite spark plug wire set worked also. Exact same length. Exact same boots. Perfect fit. OEM Ford MotorCraft WR-6117 are 7mm. The Autolite set is 8mm. If you are looking around, Denso, NGK, Behren, & ACDelco also offer 8mm wire sets for the 4.2 V6.
I also installed an MSD ignition coil pack. It works.
No problem. No performance gain. No mileage gain. Only expectation is that you can start your truck & drive it. Which is usually not the case when you install low cost, off-brand parts.
The general opinion is that you should only use Ford MotorCraft ignition parts. And I agree. OEM parts should perform exactly as designed. They will also last just about as long as the original parts that came on your truck from the factory. If you don't want to take a chance, that is what you should do. If you are open minded, and you find something which cast less, take a chance and see if your engine blows up. Mine didn't. But I don't recommend it. Nobody can afford to screw up their engine, because they wanted to save $2 per spark plug.
