Truck threw Codes

I have the 4.2 V6 and about a week ago it started to shutter while I was driving and the wrench and engine lights came on. I turned the truck off and back on and was able to get home. Both lights went off. Yesterday the wrench went on again while i was driving and the truck shuttered and so I turned the truck off again and back on. ANYWAYS. Today I went to Autozone and had them check my computer and it threw P2106 and P2135. I looked up both codes on here and from what i read I need to replace the TPS and get the pcm reprogrammed. Im just wondering if this is the best thing to do before I spend the Money. Thanks Everyone.

for no reason the TPS is going out? i dont see how the PCM is related. i would go checking those wires ASAP. maybe a hungry critter found home in that nest of wires under your hood

Im just going by the threads I found on here. Im gonna check it out tomorrow. The only thing I did different before the code was I cleaned out the throttle body with some Seafoam and my buddy put some Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my oil. I have no idea if this would do anything but im gonna change my oil again tomorrow just in case that has anything to do with it.

bingo-

why did you put seafoam in the throttle body? isnt it supposed to go in the vacuum? i would try and clean the TB and IAC with TB cleaner, but i think you may have killed it altogether

My buddy cleans out his throttle body with it. Its supposed to work like Throttle body cleaner. I guess... Either way From a bunch of the threads i read it seems that this is kind of a problem, and the TPS can go outta wack at anytime.

Yep I noticed that too. To much electrical crap in these damn things.

This engine was never designed to be operated "electronically", FYI.

The only electronics that were intended for this engine was EFI and that is it. The vacuum in the manifold was intended to control the EVAP and IMRC, which those are now electronically controlled. Also included with that is the throttle body.

I really wish Ford didn't go drive by wire on this engine -- really.

Not to mention it is grossly slow and it doesn't react very well for rev-matching.

I think that is why so many things are failing on these v6 engines.

Edit (too drunk ):
I would NEVER ever put liquid in the throttle body with power going to it (ie, plugged in), let alone add anything. Who knows what it would've done if it backfired to the throttle body. These new throttle bodies are not like the old ones.

Bummer, it saddens me to hear about all these issues with the NBS 4.2. Reliability was pretty much the only thing we had going for us when it comes to these engines. Is there possibly a TSB for a PCM update or something?
