V6 Swap
V6 Swap
I have a 99 F150 2wd 4.2 V6 and it needs quite alot of work, I was thinking of putting a built V8 small block ford into it. What kind of modifications would i need to do to make everything fit right. Trans adapter, wiring kit, modifying motor mounts, stuff like that
Depending on what tranny you have in there, and what engine you plan on swapping in determines what all you will have to change. I you keep to a new modular motor, suh as a 4.6 or 5.4, fitment won't be a problem, on they should bolt up to the bell housig without and issue as well. Of course you will need a new ecu and such, and depending on how much power you are wanting to make, make a easy build on the tranny as well.
Someone else will chime in eventually for more answers. Mine is just a bit generalized.

The 4.2 and SBF's share the same bellhousing pattern, the modular motors do not. I've got several 5.0's and a couple 351W's and been contemplating this swap on my 97 5-speed when the sixer gives out, the damn thing just keeps goin though lol...
