4.2 mpg?
4.2 mpg?
First off I searched, and I didn't find anything (even though I'm sure it's out there somewhere...)
Okay, so I had to get gas yesterday and I noticed that my trip meter was quite a bit higher than normal (I always reset it when I get gas).

Okay, so from the information that I've found, I have a 26 gallon tank.
(I wish I knew exactly how much I put in; but I figure that this was a good assumption seeing as it's full).
So when I do the math 413.4 into 26 = 15.9
15.9?
I was actually driving really conservative this tank
(better MPG, and I was really cautious after the accident...)
So if this is when I'm trying, I don't want to know what's going on when I'm driving like an idiot....
Or am I just figuring/doing something stupid?

That sounds about right. One thing to consider is that you can typically top off a little over 2 gallons of fuel after the first click off at the pump. Just make sure that you don't let your truck sit in the sun that full for too long.
You need to find out how much you actually put in. Or wait untill next tank. i have a 2000 Scab and get 21MPG avg. I willl run about 430 miles and fill up with 4-5 gallons left in the tank. 24 gallon tank
The ONLY way to calculate gas mileage is fill the tank, zero the trip meter, then when you get fuel again, fill it again and do the math - miles driven divided by gallons put in. The size of your tank does not figure into the calculation ANYWHERE.
The most accurate calculation will be filling it both times at the SAME pump the EXACT same way.

I get about 18.9 with AC on all the time and driving about 70-75 mph. I shift at about 2-2.5k. Yea Mater these 100+ degree days have been crazy. Im in Austin.
Man, I wish I got 413 miles out of a tank. I get about 280 and that's with Ethanol free gas. I never accelerate hard and do not have a heavy foot by any means. What's my problem?

our tanks are 24.5 US Gallons, about 25 if you fill the neck.also zombie, are you running stock tires/wheels?
Have you CALCULATED your exact gas mileage? How many GALLONS is it using for 280 miles?
yes and no....
factory wheels yes.
original wheels, no.
But the wheels are in the original tires, so I don't think that would make a difference...
I'm getting about 15 in my 98 5 speed driving conservatively and highway mostly but I am running 33" bfg's. I've heard of people getting alot better than that but the best I've ever gotten was about 16.7
You don't divide the miles you get on a tank by the size of your tank.
You take the # of miles divided by how many gallons you put into your truck when you fill up. I have heard of one person putting anywhere near 25 gals in our trucks. Most common number are 21-23 with the light on.
