I agree with the previous poster about the interior room. My Dad just recently purchased a leftover 2007 Mazda B2300 regular cab (same as ranger) and driving it is what made me want to get back into a truck. However after driving the F150, it made the little Ranger interior seem kinda cramped..even with the reg cab F150 you still get 4 "doors" alot more width and tons of room behind the seat compared to the Ranger/B-Series. Also..in an accident I know I would feel much safer in a F150 than a small truck..hope it never happens though.

Not true. I've done it. Highway speeds on road trips. And with the automatic.

I do transport my 6 year-old to the sitters everyday and have given the safety aspect of it some thought also. While the s-cab Ranger is reasonably roomy for me and him, I do know that should we be in an accident we wouldnt fare near as well as we would in the F150. Makes a valid point.

Without a back seat to put the kid in, you should deactivate the passenger air bag.

Yep! Already did that on my Ranger since booster seats dont fit back there. I assume the F150 also has a switch for the airbag? Correct me if I assumed wrong.

I thought the back doors on the reg cab was such a nifty feature. I remember when I was on FTE back in the day and the purists we all over this not being a reg cab truck, but I did mention that it makes for a horrible SuperCrew. Too bad it's going away for 09, or so I hear...

My friend had a new 2007 v6/M5 reg cab/shorty...got 14 MPGs. Traded for an 06 Mustang GT with 8,000 miles on it and gets 18 MPGs.

Stout trucks, but certainly no fuel sippers.

Well guys....I went and pulled the trigger on one yesterday! Got the XL short bed V6 5-speed. The only things I added was AC and a radio. They threw in a bedliner and mudguards. Ended up being $12,500 for everything since I didnt qualify for the Red Carpet lease discount. Still not a bad deal for a brand new truck. Got a good enough deal I can still afford to go buy my zero-turn mower. So far I really like the way it drives. Very smooth with reasonable power. Sure its no 5.4 but itll do anything I plan to do with it. I guess as long as I get reasonable MPG with it I will be very happy. I drive like grandpa anyway so it shouldnt be too bad. Thanks for all your help in my decision making!

Congratulations! I think you would have had a hard time buying any other brand new vehicle of any kind for that price comparably equipped.

To maximize your gas mileage without spending any money, pump up your tires to 35 psi cold, use the recommended 5W20 oil, and try to find gasoline with a minimum amount of added ethanol.

Did you trade in the Ranger or are you going to try to sell it privately?

i wish i had gone with the v8...
a V6 wont get any better gas milage then a V8... just took a 400 mile trip... i went 324 miles on 25.8 gallons of gas... thats an amazing 12.67 mpg... ( i should note that that was on interstate doin 81mph the whole time)

i shoulda took the powerstroke that gets 19.7 at 82 on interstate... (thats what we got when we went to vegas with it)

but i would say that the V6 are good... i mean they will pull what the V8 (half tons) will... just not as fast... i would go with another V6 if i was buying a new pickup.
