Exclamation engine running like crap :help:

ok so yesterday morning my truck desided it didnt want to start, when cranking it sounded like it had no compression so i said f**k it and kept cranking it started after 3 minutes of that then it fired and ran like it had 3 or more dead cylinders for about 10 minutes and pumping the gas to keep it from dieing out then it cleared out and ran fine all day, but i changed the plugs and fuel filter and air filter after that but it still did the same thing this morning, what is wrong

Do you know about the lower intake gaskets leaking coolant into the cylinders and hydrolocking it in the 97/98 trucks?

i have heard about it but dont think thats it because the guy that i bought it from worked at ford, he said the head gaskets went so he got the truck wit blown head gaskets and tore out the whole motor and rebuilt it from the ground up, unless he used the same style faulty gaskets, if so how can i check for this, it does realy consume coolant, i have to ad mabe a cup in the last 5 months ive owned it, and the motor has 10,000 since the rebuild

dont worry about it... well u kinda have to... but if you can afford it... take it to a store when it is running good and try and trade it. that is what i would do... casue u said it runs good after about 10 mins... so take it in when it is running good... thats what i would do. then when the dealer ship trys to sell it and they find out somethin is wrong they will call and all you have to say is what?? i have never had that prob with it... trust me it works. ive did it.

Yea, but not everyone has the money to go trade vehicles when they want.

if i had the money to do that i wouldent be driving a 2wd v6. if the motor hydrolocks how much damage does it usualy cause. also i have a complete 5.0 motor with wire harness and ecu, how hard would it be to do the swap if my motor hydrolocks

well your in a perdicerment then... go to the bank... and say... it will be 5000 for a new motor... or i can trade it and put that 5 grand on a better pickup and not worry about it. and if hes a good banker he should say to go with a new pickup. but maybe he wont i dont know...

P.S. when i said new pickup. i meant a diffrent pickup

issue resolved, i got a load of bad gas somehow. me and my freind smelled the fumes coming out of the gas fill and it smelled horribal so im gunna run it down to almost nothing and then fill it again from another station, also i pressure tested my cooling system, held 15 psi for over an hour

thats good... i would take the gas station to court or something... my friends dad had a powerstroke. he went to the station to put diesel in his pickup... he filled up and drove away no problem... the next day it wouldent start... then he got it going... sounded like crap... took it to ford and they said he had gas in his tank... lost all 8 injectors... he sewed the station and now the station is not there anymore... this happened last year bout this time. turns out the fuel guy put gas in the diesel tank. but somehow the station took it in the shorts. but i would try to do somethin about it. dnt let them get away with that. but thats just me. hope it all works out for you... gotta go l8tr

How about just jacking up the truck, dropping the tank and getting it cleaned out?

Or at least fill up now and dilute the crud that is in the tank.

I'm just not a fan of running a tank low while the pump is fighting the crap that is around it. Hell, it may not even matter in that case if the filter sock is doing its job.

My 2001 truck was having some starting issues and misfiring on a cylinder on cold damp mornings before I did a *major* service, which was plugs, wires and fuel filter.

BTW, Mechanics are notorious for not keeping their vehicles up.
Just because the previous owner worked at Ford doesn't mean anything.
