I have a 2000 4.2 5sp, 2WD with a cracked oil pan. I was just looking at it and it doesnt look like its going to come out easy. Just wondering if any one has had theirs out. Or has info to get it out. Thanks alot for any help!!

Some have claimed to jack up the engine and can remove it;I tried on my friends 4.2 and it would not slip out of there. We had to remove the engine.

Pullin ghte motor out to remove an oil pan? WTF? I hope that never happens to me. But when you do get around to it, have Moroso make a pan that holds at least another quart of oil. I always felt these trucks could use a little more

6 quarts isn't enough? That's 1 to 2 quarts more than most cars these days.

I know. Im just super **** about heat. I used to tune hondas and they always had heat issues with boost apps and direly needed more oil. I had to run 15w50 in the last honda I had running around 18psi.

Thats brings me to the oil grade. ford claims 5w-30 the best. I think thats a load. I was warned by a friend of mine that if I run anything thicker it will throw a check engine light even though he agreed with me he thought it was a little thin too.

I will say my stock 07 XL has a MONSTER radiator that suits me well though.

Actually 5W20 is the Ford-recommended grade for 07's.

Among other places, it says it right on the oil cap - 5W20.

On the NBS 04-07's you can just unbolt and drop the lower front crossmember, and you have all the room in the world. Im not sure if you have an 04 heritage to 97.
