I use third for passing anything, and I won't shift into fourth until 75 or 85mph. Thats at like 4k+ rpm, but before the redline. Fourth and fifth will be limited by the speed limiter.

there's no way your truck made it to 85 mph in third. well, is yours 4x4 or 4x2?

i'm assuming your truck is 4x4, and in that case, here's what i shift at
1st- 25or30
2nd- 45
3rd- MAX 70
4th- limiter will kick in.

With stock tires and 3.55 gears, it should hit 85 in 3rd.

My speedo will hit 85 in 3rd. I have 275/55/20 tires and wheels, and at those speeds my speedo is like 6mph lower. So mine does over 90mph in third. There's still 4th, and 5th too. I have a 3.55 rearend gear too.

With 3.55's, you really don't want to go much past 80 in 3rd - that's about 5000 rpm.

yeah, my tires aren't quite stock.. neither are my shocks. so wind resistance on mine might be a bit worse. and i also wasnt thinking that my truck isn't calibrated to the tires i have on it, but they're just a little bit taller than stock, and they do make a huge difference at high speeds as far as what the speedo says.
