02 F-150 Power Stering Pump Help Please!

Greetings all,

I hope maybe someone can help me with replacing my power steering pump in my 2002 F-150 4.2L v-6

Pump seized up today and shattered my (plastic) (my 97 I think at least was metal) pulley , I've ordered a new pump and pulley from Nappa and I've removed the old pump so I don't have to worry about core when I get there and it's always good to match it up..

2 questions please

1) how do I get the old burnt fluid out of the system of the truck?

2) There is a specialty Teflon o ring on the high pressure line of the pump and I had a hec of a time with this same o ring on my 97 and had to take it in to finally get it right he said he had to heat up the o-ring but I'm not sure how, hot water, hot air? how can I insure that I put this o-ring on so it won't leak..

and I'm hoping that o-ring comes with the new pump..

any help is appreciated...

Thanks

Alright if I was in your shoes myself not ever changing a pump on my truck I would go ahead and buy the high pressure line between the pump and steering box that way you will have all new seals on that side.

Drain all the fluid out of the hoses or better yet replace them , I don't believe the steering box holds much fluid but with the hoses off you could turn the box lock to lock and this may expel some of the fluid.
