Red face

I had the same problem come up last week and took it in..after I checked here for comfort and suport. Heres what they did (right off the work order)
EEC TEST P0781 TRACE TO 2-3 ACCU LEAKING. ROAD TEST RUN ELECTRIC TRANS DIAG. PINPOINT TEST C TO 2-3 ACCU PISTON. R AND I 4R70W TRANS PAN AND VALVE BODY AND REPLACE 2-3 ACCU PISTON. ROAD TEST AFTER REPAIR. CLEAR CODES RETEST OK NOW. 5013
Anyway same symptons and this seems to have fixed it. Very cool that I had the problem, came here and instantly had an idea what was up b-4 the dealer looked at it.

Thumbs up

Rkymtnfordfan-
Glad that there was a post similar to the problems that you had....since I made the first post, it came back on, they were going to replace the cylinoid, and then the torque converter....got my truck back yesterday after a 7 days in the shop, and they ended up putting in a "new" re-built transmission in it......not happy about that, but then agian I haven't been too happy with this truck either....but I am still a die-hard Ford man....nothing but the best!!!

1. This thread died over 9 years ago.
2. Go to a shop that has an OBD2 scanner that can read manufacturer-specific codes and get them read.

Hi all, new member here....

I've been having a similliar issue with the O/D light blinkinng for almost a week now. After reading through this thread, I tried to pay more attention to when this is happening:

It does seem to be shifting harder than it should, especially down shifting. This morning on the ride to work, I could not get it to go off. I took it easy at first getting up to 50 mph, then I tried to make it go off(By nature I'm a casual driver). So I pegged the tach up to 3.5k and it still didn't go off?

Unfortunately I work pretty close to home, so I didn't have a great deal of time to try to recreate the issue.

It seemed last night that it was going off @ 2-3 gear shift is there some kind of sensor to check?

Thanks

You might get some help if you started your own thread with details of your problem and trouble codes, if any.

Simple fix for what specifically? There are many potential causes for a flashing OD light. We have literally no info to go off of to help with yours.

Nobody knows what's wrong. If you get the codes read then we can tell you where to start. You need somewhere that has a good scan tool, the auto parts stores that read codes free CANNOT read these codes. You need either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.

I'll be taking a look at the sensors next.
Did u ever figure it out? Mine is doing the exact thing, slight jerk when shifting and O/D light flashing. Any help would be appreciated

That was posted 18 years ago.

You need to get the codes read with a scanner that can read Ford transmission codes.

overdrive light blinking

i have a 1995 f150 mark lll conversion and the light started flashing a week ago but it stalls in first then i have to let off the gas a bit to make it shift into second and overdrive, plus it slams through every gear and if i let off the gas or brake in overdrive it wont shift back into it. the other problem is it slams into reverse and drive everytime, i dont know if i need new button or my trans checked out
