Is it worth it to replace auto trans fluid with synth?
kilroy sure is in many places on this site and seriously pissed at amsoil/amway. He sort of sounds like the old Fordman from a few months ago...before he was banned.

Sparky, again you've avoided my questions and only recited the same old stale BS that Amway/Amsoil provides you (you just admitted that, remember). Again, you've chosen the typical Amway/Amsoil tactic and changed the subject rather than answer the questions. Your only real experience seems to be perusing various biased brochures and repeating second hand information. You want to play with the big boys? Give something away: Mobil gave me half off a case of Mobil 1 and Castrol gave me 5 FREE quarts of Syntec. What do you have on the table besides some tired old rhetoric? Money talks, BULLSH** walks. At any rate, answer the questions, don't dodge and change the subject. Your pal, the amazing Randy, just admitted Amway/Amsoil's ATF can't hang with Mercon V. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT.

Oooh now I'm 'Amazing'

LOL, Fordman hunh?? I had forgotten about him. So any takers that our friend kilroy is our old cantankerous 'Fordman'??
My point was to prevent the 4R100 owners not to get mixed up by which fluid to use. Besides, you'd be surprised what the 'regular' ATF can do.
Psst. How's my spelling?

Randy
HAIL ALL, THE CULT OF AMWAY/AMSOIL HAS HAD A BRIEF, BUT TELLING MOMENT OF CLARITY!!!! BOW DOWN TO THE EAST AND PRAISE THE GODS OF AMWAY/AMSOIL AGAIN!!!! THE GREAT EGYPTIAN GOD OF AMWAY/AMSOIL HAS SPOKEN, AND ANUBIS AGREES, HIS PYRAMID DOESN'T MAKE A MERCON V COMPATIBLE FLUID!!! Castrol does, just thought you'd like to know that. ACTUALLY, Valvoline and Quaker State are marketing a fluid compatible in both Mercon V and Mercon/Dexron III systems. Amway/Amsoil can't hang there either. Too bad, too sad.
I am TRULY flattered that I would even be mentioned in the same breath as Fordman! I was afraid you all would lump me in with this "dantheman" character that I've been reading about in the old posts. Enough of that, DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT!!!

Ok kilroy...AMWAY/AMSOIL suck(s)...so what...who cares. "Too bad, too sad." Everyone has a preference or reason they use the oil that they do. I have found nothing wrong at all with what cphilip or msparks have posted. I have never felt pressured to use Amsoil. Almost every oil on the shelf today is of the highest quality and will do the job...some slightly better than others. I have used Castrol for over 10 years and never used Amsoil...never been in Amway.
First off, kilroy, who made you god and what are your qualifications?...or are you blowing smoke out your ____ (you fill in the blank).
I'm with you cphillip... Yawn! Oprah is more interesting.....

Yes, I'm just blowing smoke out of my backside. I've been taking Tums and Gas-X, but nothing seems to help as much intellectually pounding two blithering idiots into submission (that would be Sparky and Randy, not cphilip). You seem to have skipped many of these posts and leaped without looking, Dustoff. I NEVER said Amway/Amsoil was bad, or that anyone is pressured to buy it. I am calling these two on the carpet for their false and otherwise BASELESS allegations concerning Castrol. I want them to PUT UP OR SHUT UP. I would thank you to go back and re-read these posts before becoming a partisan in this, Dustoff. If Sparky and Randy want to make a little money selling Amway/Amsoil, that's great. I'm annoyed that they spread deliberately false information, though, THAT'S why I'm questioning them in a hostile tone.
Hostilities aside; cphilip, I read on here you had bought or were using a Fumoto drain valve. Any comments? I'm thinking about trying one on at least one of my vehicles.

kilroy at it again hunh??
Blithering idiot....pounding into submission... Ahh the blessings of the first amendment...
How much do I make selling Amsoil, or Mobil, or Chevron, or Amoco???? I'm not a dealer, nor have I ever been one. At least your're consistent with your stance, even if it is slanted and incorrect.
If I told you that the B1B could not receive its Block D upgrade because the B2 needed more training money due to the cost of keeping the flight crews up to par, would you challenge that too?? You can't verify it, you can't say that its accurate or inaccurate, but it is valid information. What do you do then???
If you won't believe standard industry information, won't take even the slightest step to verify the facts that are presented, yet demand the others meet you in what you consider 'appropriate'. Then you become your own worst enemy. One who won't share useful information, one who won't bear the burden of fact, and one who only becomes a stumbling block to those around them.
I'd express my concern for your intent, but you wouldn't believe me then either. What happens when we finally agree on something???
Or worse, what happens when your rhetoric causes someone to hurt themselves or damage something???
Tough questions, I hope that you are mature enough to handle them.
Randy

DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT. This seems to be your tactic, change the subject to otherwise avoid the question. Your ONLY evidence presented thus far, have been various internet roundtable discussions, featuring even rounder heads, and apparently bogus information. DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT.
Yes Kilroy, I like it so far. I was extreemly nervous about the thing at first but after checking my oil daily and crawling under there every day for several weeks I am sure it is not leaking now. I haven't done an oil change with it yet as my first change at 2800 included the inital install and I am only at 4000 now. I will post what I learn from my first operation when I do it.
By the way I have always been a Castrol GTX guy myself and in fact this first change I am talking about is the first time I have ever tried synthetics in anything. I used Mobil 1. I picked up 1.2 mpgs after that but I cannot say with any certainty it is oil related or just break in. I am very skeptical but am willing to try as long as I feel no damage will occur. I feel confident that is the case. But will I actually be better off? And will my engine last longer? I hope so but don't really know. One of the things that put me over the top to try synthetics was Castrols coming out with one. And my father in law, a car nut, body shop owner and die hard Castrol man, switched all his vehicles over. He is using the Castrol synthetic. He is an "old dog" if you know what I mean so he must have been pretty confident too. However, I went with a product that I felt had been out longer in the field, Mobil 1. I am also going to try this new Amsoil 7500 as it competes well with Mobil 1 in price. Amsoil's been around a lot longer than any of them. Am I throwing money away? Maybe. I am willing to see and learn.
