M5OD Swap Help

I recently purchased a M5OD transmission and I am going to swap it with the 4 speed granny piece of crap thats in my truck. I have an 89 F 150 4x4 with an L6 4.9L. I know I'll need some parts to make the swap, but I dont know some of the small stuff I'll need. I'm looking at getting a Centerforce I clutch and pressure plate as well as a new throwout bearing and slave cylinder. What I need to know is, is there anything else that I'll need to get to make the swap a success? Some people said that I'll need a new driveshaft and master cylinder but i dont know... If anyone can make any suggestions, please help me out. Also, if you know of any other decent upgrade parts, please let me know of them. Thanks for your time, Death Rowe

You will need a new slave cylindar since yours is most likely external, the mazda uses internal. They run about 120 bucks form ford but you can get them cheaper i suspect. New lines from the master to slave cylindar will be needed. You will most likely need a new crossmember from a mazda trans and the transmition support pieces. There is 2. But I think your master cylindar should be ok but Im not completely sure on that. Your driveshaft(s) will need to be modified for the difference in transmition length. Besides that I think it should go in just fine.

Make sure to get an 11" clutch if your flywheel is drilled for it. Read this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=91813

The cross member is identical and the mount is the same.

You might be in luck and the trannys be the same length and no change in the driveshaft length, but a little measuring will tell you. I dunno about that. If they are the same length, your driveshafts will not have to be adapted. You dont have to get new ones, as they can be adapted at a driveline repair shop. Im gonna agree with Gamehunter on the slave cylinder and tube being different, and not sure about the master cylinder. Seems like the slave was $90 at a local parts store and the tube was high dollar from the dealer. ($45?) There is a pin in the master cylinder that holds the tube in on the M5OD setup. It was easier for me to remove the master cylinder to get the tube off.

Verify that the M5OD is for a 4x4, as most trannys are different for a 2x.
