??B&M ShiftPlus Electronic shift improver??

Hello,
Does anybody have any experience with the thing? Is it worth the money? What is the difference (I know it should be huge) between this and, for instance, Transgo Shift kit?
Anything?
Thanks,
Alex.

Sorry, I don't have one, I have seen some posts about it but not a lot. Prolly cause the think is only to be applied up through the '97 model year, I think. So have said it is effective but others say it's a little risky as it raises line pressure. Thereby applying additional stress to the pump.

I find it curious that they never upgraded it beynd the '97.

You can do a search on this subject but from what I remember these units were frying transmissions on 1997 & 1998 models.

I believe that they raise the pressure electronically whereas a shift kit does the same mechanically.

From what I remember reading you should stay away from them. I was told they create a voltage spike that would someohow raise line pressure and produce supposedly better shifts. If your going to do it electronically do it right with a superchip or the new tuner. I myself beleive in using a mechanical shift kit and using the chip to remove the dleays and retards.

I have one... It does shift harder and is pretty easy to install.

I have had one on my '97 4.6l...

...for like, 50,000 miles. Works fine; no problems; better shifts. Only downside is a slight humming sound from trans (hyd pump?) at idle in "drive."

I think the reason it only goes up to 97 (this only applies to the E4OD and 4R100) is that after that they had pulse width modulation and it's not compatible. I have heard some baad things about them, and it's never in my opinion a good idea to rasie line pressure with software, in the big box it's not good for the pump, not sure whether it's an issue for the 4R70.
