5.4 V8 engine. Hit 78K miles and overdrive went out while in cruse mode and not pulling a trailer. At transmission shop now. Computer dignoistics show nothing wrong. Drop the pan, and shavings found. Pull a trailer with this truck, but I always turn the overdrive off.

This is my 4th F150 in 20 yrs. and everyone of them has had transmission problems at 100k miles. Even my husbands 1997 F350 Super Duty had the transmission replaced at 120k.

Anyone else have any problems?

 

This weekend OD light started flashing, took it into the dealer this morning. They called me tonight and said something major, will have to tear the transmission down tomorrow. They will let me know what exactly the problem is in the afternoon. '99 F150 5.4 with 63,000 miles. This is the second ford we had with tranny problems, trying to be faithful, but sure is hard.
