'01 F150 4sp Auto Trans Problem

Truck has V-6 engine. Getting vibration, jerkiness and shudder ing when tranny is in OD going on flat road and uphill; also loses power. When I turn off the OD button, no problem.
My appointment with the dealer is Wednesday. What can I expect here? Anyone have any ideas? Truck is 1000 miles OVER warranty!!! AHHHCH!

I'm 99% sure that all you need is a transmission fluid change. That is almost always the reason for transmission shudder.

Similar problem. If I slow down to 10 to 15 mph and then accelerate the transmission will hesitate to downshift and then will downshift with a large clunk/jolt. Dealer has had the truck for over 1 week and they are looking at the pinion gear. At 5K miles the dealer found brass shavings in the transmission. It looks like I'll be getting a new(rebuilt) transmission. ****!!!

Unhappy

I just got back from the dealer with my 2001 F-150 and I have been having the same problem.

I was told that I would have to have a new transmission, and that they would have it overnight and install it Tuesday morning.

uhh..sounds more like torque converter shudder and the main cause of it is a break down of transmission fluid. But hey...congrats on the new tranny.

I still have not gotten my truck back from the dealer, it has been one week today, but they did give the part number for the new transmission.
F01L3Z700JARM
Does anyone know if this is a 4r70 or a 4R100 ?
My truck has a trans code of U but it is Larirat 4x4 w trailer package,3.55 LS, and skid plate but not the Off Road package
So I am not sure which trans I really have?
Any Help out there?
Thanks
Tom

Problem Resolved

The problem was a clogged injector in #4 cylinder. The diagnostic computer readout ($65) spit out the codes.
Total cost $240, not bad considering the cost of a transmission.
THis is not covered under warranty----they say........but I am going to try the factory rep on this. Occurred at 37,000 miles!
