My '96 E4OD is leaking at the cooler return line; the leak is between the case and the seat fitting. From what I can tell from parts diagrams and from scrounging at the pick-n-pull, there isn't an o-ring between the case and this fitting. The fitting was installed with red thread-lock at the factory, judging by the one I pulled at the junkyard. The oil is leaking out through the threads; any ideas how to fix this?
The fitting I pulled at the junkyard came off easily in spite of the red thread-lock; I don't want to heat mine to remove it because i'm scared of damaging the gasket or the transmission, but I also don't want to force it out and damage the threads in the aluminum of the case.
I had three transmission leaks and I'm down to this one; I would love to stop dripping! Thanks for your help
