Need to Replace My Transmission

Hi i have a 2005 F150 4x4 Lariat crew cab 4door. 5.4L. And my reverse went out. Im just wanting to find one cheap to last long enough to trade it in. Im in Alabama. Opelika Al. Neighbor to Auburn Al. And Auburn University. Close to Montgomery Al. And Birmingham Al. Or 2hours from Atlanta Ga. Can anyone tell me if they know of somewhere in these areas to find a cheap one like im wanting. I just dont want my truck anymore. Been having too many problems since i paid it off over a year ago. I want something more econmical .

Arleen, I moved your last post to its own thread in the transmission section because you wouldn't get the right kind of attention in the old Body thread it was posted in. Hope someone comes along soon with some good suggestions.

It sounds like you just want something, anything, that works, so that you can get rid of the truck. Maybe you can just sell or trade in the truck as is. Instead of going through all the trouble and expense of having the transmission rebuilt, or installing a used transmission. Don't be shocked by how little a dealership will offer you. They have to pay you less, in order to make a profit. Then they figure in the cost of making the truck presentable......whether it's detailing, repairing a few small things, or replacing the transmission. They also take the risk of the truck continuing to depreciate until it sells. You could strike a better deal with a private party transaction. But if it were me, I would get rid of the truck "as is". Just move onto owning whatever your next car is going to be. You don't want to spend $2,000, only to be able to sell the truck for $5,000. Let someone take it off your hands for a good price, and be done with it.
