It is 2 wheel drive. 4.6 v8 1997 f150.

Ok, so you keep telling us about the extension housing casting number. That housing was used on everything from a V6 Mustang to a Grand Marquis or even an E Series van.

That number isn't what matters. What matters is what you have found. It needs to be the same length transmission with the correct bellhousing pattern, shift lever and the right electronics.

A 97 to a 97 should, at minimum, have the electronics covered. If it's an expy and your truck has the 4.6, then the bellhousing is correct. Being both are "trucks" the shift lever is the same. Both, also, should be the same length.

So, this should be a go.

If the Expy is also 2wd, it's a go. If it's a 4wd, no go.

pke-bh2 is on a plate on the passenger side of the transmission. What does that mean?

I think that means it came out of a Crown Vic.

No, that's a 4R100. You have a 4R70W. Code U.

You need a 4R70W out of a 97 or 98 2wd F150 or Expy with a V8 for maximum compatibility.

Junkyards should have a compatibility reference.

Why don't you just get yours rebuilt?
