2005 f150 transmission issues/slipping out of gear
I messaged him again since it's been a few days in case there was a glitch and the message didn't actually go through. Thanks for all your help.
Does anyone else know the answer of if the transmissions use the same rebuild kits? It looks that way online. I'm not trying to be rube, but I've yet you get a response from Darrin and I need to get started on this soon.
If there is ever any question, a call is the best way to get the most detailed and accurate response and I almost always answer the phone.
But when you go to my site it lists the basic kit starting out for all the 4R7x series transmissions. You would then choose your year range and that sets it to the kit you would need.
You always replace or flush the cooler, and ALWAYS replace the torque converter with any failure. Always. No exceptions.
If you tow, I would upgrade to 7 plates on the direct and 6 on the forward clutches.

Sorry, I have no message or email. Unfortunately spam filters on the sender end will kill off the auto reply that generates the message I would see sometimes.

It may be a few weeks before I get to do any work because it looks like I’ll be having to replace quite a bit more parts then I was expecting. I was looking at rebuild kits for $150 to $250 and thought that was it. I had no idea there were different levels of rebuilds . Started doing research and realized a lot of other stuff should probably be done. That’s why I love forums.
Thanks
The cheaper kits aren't full rebuild kits. They are missing a LOT of stuff needed to do the job right and you don't know how many times I have had to help people who got something like that and then toasted the parts and had to go through it all again.
I also don't get notifications on posts, so I reply when I check back in. Sometimes that takes a bit.
