Question Stalls when put in reverse, what could it be?

My 1994 F150 Supercab with an I6 automatic trans stalls when put into reverse. With the foot on the brake, shifting into reverse makes the idle go down then revs up, then I can feel it shift into reverse - sometimes it shifts hard and goes 'clunk' and stalls. other times it just slowly lowers rpm until it stalls.

If I take my foot off the brake and/or rev the engine with the throttle, then in most cases I can prevent it from stalling.

What can be causing this?

ANSWER found: It was the transmission oil filter! When Aamco removed the pan the filter fell out. Inspection showed that the walls of the bore, where the filter gasket/oring goes, was gouged/scraped with some forign object. Most likely a screwdriver that Jiffy Lube used to remove the gasket when doing a full tranny service! Bastards! This service was done like 1.5 years ago. With the installation of a new gasket, because the old one would continue to let the filter fall out, the filter would stay on and now my original symptom is clearly gone! AMAZING!

Most likely it is the torque converter clutch stuck on. You need a transmisson pro to diagnose why it is on.

Lightbulb ANSWER FOUND, IT WAS THE TRANS OIL FILTER GASKET

ANSWER found: It was the transmission oil filter gasket/oring! When I brought it to Aamco for inspction, they removed the pan the filter fell out (apparently it is not suppose to just fall out). Inspection showed that the walls of the bore, where the filter gasket/oring goes, was Gouged/scraped with some forign object. Most likely a screwdriver that Jiffy Lube used to remove the gasket when doing a full tranny service 1.5 years ago! Bastards! With the installation of a new gaske the filter would stay on and now my original symptom is clearly gone! AMAZING!

Now, what should I do with Jiffy Lube?
