I have a 97 f150 4.2L 4x4 auto transmission. When i go to move the truck. I have to rev the engine up before it goes into gear. After it goes into to gear it lags alittle in drive at first then it drives fine till i go to stop again.

 

If the trans fluid isn't low, the problem is most likely a destroyed forward clutch.
