92 f150 wont shift after tranny flush

92 f150 wont shift after tranny flush

I had a transmission flush done on my 92 f150 auto. 220k miles. It worked but shifted hard before I had it done, now it won't shift past 3rd gear. Any thoughts? It's the e4od trans, and the fluid used was farmoyl brand ATF fluid. No lift kit, has 235-75-15 tires and its 4x4

Was the fluid Mercon or Mercon V? If not, you used the wrong fluid.

No, it was framoyl brand automatic transmission fluid, how do I know if I should use mercon or mercon v ?

You should use MERCON V. MERCON has been discontinued.

The first step to determine what's wrong is to get the codes read. Without codes it's all a bunch of guesswork.

The question is - what spec does that Farmoyl fluid meet? If it meets Mercon or Mercon V spec, it should be okay.

If so, I don't think it's the best choice, but I don't think it would cause any harm and it didn't cause your problem. This link says it is for use where MERCON was specified, but not to use it in MERCON V applications.

My thought is that the transmission was about to die from whatever was damaged inside. Flushing the fluid didn't fix the broken parts inside and it died. I think it's rebuild it or replace it time.
