2006 F-150 transmission flush.
2006 F-150 transmission flush.
Tomorrow, I've scheduled a transmission flush and refill
for my F-150 (80,656 miles). Is it standard procedure to
back flush the trans-filter without replacing it? The mechanic
assured me that I don't have to have it replaced. I tend to
believe him because he's worked on our cars for the past
16 years and we've never had a problem with his honest work.
What say the F-150 forum?

Do NOT get it backflushed. Have the fluid exchanged with the machine in the passive mode, with the engine running and using the transmission pump to do the work. The filter should not need to be changed.
truck was as you described it. The final cost was $140.00.
I didn't feel like doing this while laying under the truck.
It's impossible to backflush a transmission. The pump, which is attached to the engine, would have to spin backwards. That's not going to happen.
But I agree the filter does not need to be changed. $140 is a very fair price for this service.
