Transmission overdrive gone

Hi so I'm new to this but I need more opinions. I read a thread here about the servo snap ring breaking and jamming a valve in valve body (04 f150 with 4r75e tranny). I brought my truck to a shop and the mechanic said that, that was the initial issue cause my loss of OD, but he test drove it and claimed there was still the issue and told me that because it was stuck that it burned out the overdrive plates and that it now needs rebuilt. is this a real possibility or am I being taken for a ride?
Thanks for the comments

On that transmission there are no "overdrive plates" so that would be an impossibility.

Now if he would have said overdrive band...

But either way, if it was a servo clip then I haven't often seen the band burn up. Could happen I guess.

Similar problem with mine...

Transmission guy replaced the snap ring, and put it all back together...still no OD...because of what I have read on this site, I asked if he was sure if the OD band was on the servo...crickets chirping...then he said he thought it was...

So he tore back into it and low and behold it wasn't...I now have OD...

In my case it was a simple mistake on the Tech's part...hope it is for you too!
