I finally got a engine light to come on my truck. I took it to auto zone and the code came up as a shift solenoid.
I ordered what they had listed but now I am a little leery abut installed the right part.
I think there is more then one shift solenoid but they only show one shift solenoid on the parts computer.
Nothing worst then installing the wrong part.

 

The shift solenoids come as a pack with both of them in the same housing.

 

Makes sense now that I see the picture.

I have read a lot of forms but normally I have a broader knowledge about what I am researching. Automatic transmissions are not something I know much about.
Bluegrass wrote one of the best trouble shooting posts I have read and Darin was right there to help me see the components.
Truck shifts great and I think I'll have the old chicken truck (1997) for a long time now.
