overdrive turns on

Hi All,
issue here, its done it with the original tranny and with new one. I run with overdrive off quite often and when slowing down for a light or something the overdrive kicks back in and the light on the dash goes solid red for a few seconds. It does this about everytime I run with overdrive off. No codes or faults seen and drives normally other than overdirve kickin' back in.

Oh this started when I had installed a Troyer valve body, but with entirely new tranny I thought if it was a tranny issue it would of gone away when the new unit was installed. Any ideas?

Thanks

Just a guess but maybe it's to save gas while slowing down and to lower the rpms and put less stress on everything? Almost like driving a stick and putting it in neutral to coast to a stop.

No, the trans doesn't do that.

I recommend taking the plastic cover off of the steering column. Carefully inspect the wires where they enter the shift handle. They are damaged and need to be repaired or replaced.
