I could not start my 2001 Expedition 4x4 5.4L while in park. All the lights and instrument panel still worked so I looked for other issues. I came up with replacing the "neutral safety switch". It worked. It starts in park. Now it will not change gears. Before I changed the switch I could start it in neutral and the gears shifted just fine. Can anyone help me with this?

 

Did you align the switch when you installed it? It is aligned when the trans is in neutral. There are alignment marks that have to be set or this can happen.

 

So with the truck in neutral, align the marks on the nss and it should be good? Hope this is all I need to do.
