Is it possible to take a transmission from 97/98 expedition and put that in my 97/f150 4.2l v6 truck will that work??

 

Nope. The 4.6/5.4 Triton V-8 has a different bellhousing bolt pattern from the V-6. The V-6 uses the old Windsor bolt pattern.

You need another 4.2 transmission, and it has to be from the same drive system truck (2wd or 4wd). If you have a 2wd, a transmission out of a 4.2 E-van should work.

 

Can't you just swap the bell housings?

 

Bell housings are not removable.

 

You would have to saw off the bellhousings and then weld it on the other trans. It is possible, but not practical.

 

Can y'all tell me what vehicles from ford that has the same transmission as my 4.2l
