Can i get the transmission model from my vin number?
Recently told mine was cooked. 2002 f-150 sport 4.6

 

Probably a 4R70W. Trans code should be on the door jamb sticker. U = 4R70W E= E4OD/4R100.

 

The ONLY automatic with the 4.6L is the 4R70W.

The VIN doesn't have any information about the transmission, but a Ford dealer can look up what's called an "as built" report and get that info. They might only be able to go back 10 years.
