Trany wont go in reverse once warm

Hello all, 2004 F150 XLT 4x4 (4R75E trans). My truck drive fine when I first start it and everything is cold, but once its all warmed up the reverse will not engage. It drive perfectly in forward gears but the reverse will not engage 90% of the time. When I first noticed it happening it would sometime take a couple minutes before engaging. Now it dosent matter how long I wait it just won't engage. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Yes I have. It is a worn out seal in the reverse clutch. The trans has to come out and be rebuilt to fix this.

I normally do NOT recommend any transmission additives, but if you need to delay pulling it and rebuilding it, you can TRY some Lucas Transmission Fix. This MIGHT swell the seal enough to give you reverse back - for a while.

Hey guys, anything in particular that would cause this? Mine currently has all forward gears as normal, but it takes a second or two to engage reverse. Once in, it is fine. Same issue?

A second or two to engage reverse is normal.
