I think that's a dayum good deal.
Did they give you a fluid change/flush schedule? What type/brand of Mercon V did they put in it?
I've only heard good things about Jasper engines and transmissions.

No chunks or abnormally large shavings in the pan. Fluid was worn but not burnt. The transfer case fluid was NASTY. Curious thing: they say 5-6 qts of tranny fluid after filter change, I drained out only about 4.5 and the level was fine before hand. The transfer case says to refill with 2 qts, but I drained about 4 qts out!!!!
I did find out that it was the first time the tranny fluid was changed by the notorious yellow plug in the pan. I bought the truck 6 months ago and for a 2005 it has 118k on it.
What to try next, hmmmmm...........
Any suggestions?
Oh and now the truck runs weak. When I shift into R or D, the engine almost stalls and the odometer display dims. Vacuum line maybe?
You actually didn't change your tyranny fluid. The 5-6 quarts is what the pan should hold. The lines are also full, and they run to the radiator and transmission cooler. The only way to actually replace all your tyranny fluid is to vacuum it through. Tranny shops have a special set up that circulates all the old out and replaces it with new fluid.

I have owned SEVERAL F150's with the AOD/4R70W/4R75E transmission. EVERYONE of them with the factory pan have ONLY held 4 qts. of transmission fluid. After I add the REQUIRED 4 qts., the dipstick reads just above the 1/2 way mark in the cross hatched area. That's full enough for me. Adding the extra 1/4 of a qt. of fluid is NOT worth the extra money just to have 3/4 of a qt. left sitting on the shelf.

The transmission holds about 12 quarts of fluid. 6-8 quarts are in the torque converter. Some is in the cooler lines, and some is in the clutches and servos inside the transmission.

Hello Mark. LTNS. You have helped me and my friends with some sticky situations in the past with our Ford transmissions. I figure, if you want to know something about the AOD type trans., go to the source, Mark Kovalsky.
